When reading the chapter its all about products and how they are in pop culture. In society there are millions of companies competing to make their products and brands the most popular and in demand the most. Companies want their products to be the most important and bought. All of these companies survive if they can develope and change with the progress of society. They need to become needed by society and grow with technology and the needs of the people. As society changes so do the products. For companies to become known through out society they have to becom globalized, they need to be sold around the world so that everyone knows about them.
The second part of the chapter is about how one can look at places in society. It talks about how society can look at a place it be a mall park or anything
And see if it is a private or public place. one can tell if it basically by the type of people there, usually private places are where people of the exact same group are. Like for example in the past they were segregated. Now they are usually public meaning that everyone can go. Also they talk about modern or industrialized. There is a blurred line between these in our society. with expansion into the wilderness or settlement in cities.
I agree with you about the globilazation part. If busnisses did work on becoming globalized it would help them to sell products. I'm not sure that I agree with you about how you say you can tell by if it's basically by the type of people there. I'm not sure you can look at the people at a certain place and decide at that point if it's a public or private place.
